Xeomin vs. Botox: What’s the Difference—And Why I Choose Xeomin
What’s the Real Difference Between Xeomin and Botox?
If you’ve been researching wrinkle relaxers or neuromodulators, you’ve likely come across two big names: Botox and Xeomin. While both are FDA-approved to treat fine lines and wrinkles, they aren’t identical—and if you’ve ever wondered why I prefer Xeomin for my clients, this post is for you.
Botox and Xeomin Are Both Botulinum Toxin Type A
Let’s start with what they have in common. Botox and Xeomin are both forms of botulinum toxin type A. They work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles—like frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet.
The result? Softer, smoother skin that still moves naturally.
So What Makes Xeomin Different?
The biggest difference comes down to formulation.
Botox contains added proteins, known as accessory or complexing proteins. Xeomin, on the other hand, is a “naked” form of botulinum toxin—it’s purified to remove all those extras.
That means Xeomin contains only the active ingredient. Nothing more, nothing less.
“Xeomin is clean, precise, and predictable. It’s one of my go-to treatments for natural-looking results.”
– Bethany Brown, APRN
Why That Matters for You
In clinical terms, a purified formulation like Xeomin may reduce the chance of developing antibody resistance—a rare occurrence where the body stops responding to neuromodulators over time.
In practical terms, Xeomin is just as effective as Botox, with results that typically appear within 3–5 days and last 3–4 months.
My Personal Preference: Why I Use Xeomin
I’ve chosen Xeomin for myself and my clients for a few key reasons:
I love the minimalist formulation—no unnecessary ingredients
It offers consistent, beautiful results that still allow natural expression
It’s part of a skin-first, subtle approach to aesthetics that aligns with everything I do
Of course, the best choice depends on your unique goals, medical history, and lifestyle—and that’s exactly what we’ll talk through in your consultation.
